Officially Zombified

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Stayed up late until the wee hours of the morning to grow my garden of zombie slaying plants to prevent my brain from being by zombies.

Plants vs. Zombies rocks!

Five people told me I looked different today.  Must be my new leather jacket.

If there is one thing my high school classmates would best remember me by is that I was a friendly loner who always read a lot of books.  To my surprise, I googled myself today and found out that I am also remembered for another thing.

The Inheritance of Loss

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

The less money, the less trouble; the less favor, the less envy. Even in those cases which put us out of wits, it is not the loss itself, but the estimate of the loss that troubles us

If there is one thing that I have learned from yesterday's mishap it would be never to buy expensive stuff, or just plain stuff.  Stop the shopping from now on.  My loss was worth much of what I have worked for.  Sure 3K is just pocket change but that is still 3geez!  In my bag was an expensive Girbaud leather wallet and the bag was given to me by my grandmother.  I lost it big time.

Thankfully some of my cards were retrieved by water delivery men near the mall where I dropped my bag.  I have  all my cards with me except for my BPI and RCBC cards.   Fortunately, my BDO card was returned since that is where I get my pay.

Its time to be humble and just make do with what I have right now.  Promise I will not spend anymore on useless materialistic things.  From now on, I am giving spending a blind eye.

Stressed? 8 Ways to Go Funky Like the Pink Bunny (with the drum)!

Monday, March 22, 2010

Working in a call center is like digging my grave between cubicles under  fluorescent lights.  I have been in this industry for 4 years now but luckily I did not experience a burn out.  Sure, I have been hospitalized 4 times already but I never really said I would give up and just lay on my death bed full of stress nails.

My secret to taking away all the tiredness is this list.   Take it to heart carefully, it might save your life.

1.  Pamahaw.

It's not called the most important meal of the day for nothin', and if you're looking to boost energy, this one's non-negotiable.
Studies show people who eat breakfast every morning enjoy increased energy and a cheerier mood throughout the day. Aim to get a mix of lean protein, carbohydrates, and good fats. A tablespoon of peanut butter on a whole grain English muffin is a good start.

2.  Deal With A Stressor.

Stress zaps energy like nothing else. If you have an emotional or work stress that you can address head on, it's worth it to nip it in the bud, if only for your energy levels. Addressing the stress in your life can be something simple: maybe jostling for a seat on the Ceres economy bus starts your day off in a huff. Can you leave earlier, find a seat on the local, and spend the extra commute time reading a novel? Our world is a stressful one, no doubt, but look for the areas where you can minimize the daily hassles as much as possible.

3.  Have A Handful of Mani.

Protein-rich mani can give you a boost, but it's actually the magnesium in almonds that might be extra helpful. Magnesium plays a vital role sugar into energy, and research shows that a deficiency in this mineral can leave you feeling sluggish. You can also get magnesium from whole grains and wheat bread from Baker's or Foodman.

4.  Switch things up.

Sometimes a simple case of the blahs can zap your energy. Switch up your routine in little ways to give yourself a burst of energy -- dare to wear spring's prettiest pink lipsticks or try a new vegetable or fruit you've always wondered about. Mangosteen, anyone?

 5.  Make the most of the sleep you get.

If your room is overheated and filled with ambient light from your clock radio or the street light outside, you're not maximizing the sleep you're managing to get. Make your shut-eye as restful as possible by making your room cool and dark (or wear a sleep mask). Might as well throw some clean sheets on there to make bedtime feel as luxuriously restful as possible.

And always, always...take a bath before jumping in the sheets.  Okie.  That is to keep the itch away.

6.  Drink a glass of water. And if that fails, try tea.

Dehydration and fatigue are bffs, and some studies suggest even mild dehydration can slow metabolism and sap your energy. Hydrate with a glass of water, or ideally, drink plenty of water throughout the day. If you still need extra juice, try a cup of tea. Research suggests that tea’s combination of caffeine and the amino acid L-theanine can improve alertness, and black tea has been shown to lessen the effects of stress.

Unfortunately, coffee doesnt work best with me.  So I just drink a whole mug of water every two hours in my 9 hour shift and a couple 4 times more before I go to bed.

7.  Take a quick walk outside.

We all know exercise is an energy booster, and of course, it's often the last thing we want to do when we're dog tired. But just taking a 15-minute spin around the block can be energizing. Furthermore, our circadian rhythms respond to the natural blue light of sunshine more than dim office lighting, so stepping outside can provide a natural boost before a graveyard shift.

8.  Step away from technology (biskan ka dali lng).

Our smart phones make us available to anyone who sends an email or text. The entire world wide web is at our fingertips. But all that connection can be exhausting. Set boundaries so you can have phone-free time. A simple way to start: power it down while you sleep or keep it away in your locker at working hours.  Just be careful with the locker snatchers though.

Anything with Will Ferrel on it...lets go alert!

Another movie to add on my to-watch list.  Can't wait!  But honestly though, its a bit too far away.  Novermber is so ooober distant future!

I hate the world today.  My bag got lost.  =(
Someone withdrawed from my atm 3K.  I had to report the loss to my banks and all.  Thank goodness my company Id is still with me and my cellphone!

Getting Paid For This

Sunday, March 21, 2010

I love my job.   I love it.  I love it.  I love it.
Only 5 chats were routed to me today with an average handling time of 13 minutes.  13 minutes times 5 is 1 hour and 5 minutes.  That means I only spend 1 hour and 5 minutes of work in an 8 hour shift.
Perfection, isn't it?

After work, I had to hurry home to watch ANTM cycle 9.

It was so boring at work today, fortunately, Jassy and David came by around because Jassy had to pass her application forms so that she could go back to work again.  They waited at Rob for me to get off at 6pm and then we headed straight to Sanders for one round of drinks.

I arrived home late...and watched The Crazies with my cousin and sister. I swear my sister looks like a "Butch" but she squeals like a girl!

I hung out with David and Jassy at Starbucks today.  Weeee!
We forced David to be absent from work just to accompany us.  Jassy had to go home early while David and I ended up at 888 splurging on ukay ukays.

Hate This

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

I slept approximately four hours last night. I had to breathe through my mouth and down my raw throat, since my nose is constantly re-clogging. Gawd I hate being sick!

Down With The Sickness

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

It is my lolo's birthday today.  Everybody is busy outside preparing for the dinner party.  They have been preparing the food since yesterday and it is just normal.  The one thing I like about family parties is that the food is not just the ordinary cuisine prepared in a typical Pinoy fashion. On these special occasions, the food is fit for the President herself.  I don't know what the names of the food are, all I know is that they taste uber delicious.  Maybe the reason why we do great rituals on preparing food is that my family, especially my lola is a cook.  We are a family of chefs.

Just too bad though, cooking doesn't run in my blood.  See, here I am blogging while everybody is outside in the kitchen.

I would really love to help but I am down with the sickness.  No, I am not malingering. I have my period and I have flu.  I tried to help earlier but my grandmother scolded me not to help since she is scared I might just sneeze on the food.

Pacquiao vs. Clottey

Sunday, March 14, 2010

I hate that I am not going to be able to watch the live  fight because I will have to leave for work in a while.  I hate this!  Here in Silay, we have PPV, unlike the cable provider in Bacolod.  My city really takes care of her people.  Too bad I am not going to be able to enjoy the fight.

Good luck Manny!

Oh, WTF? This is too much!

Don't you guys think this is a little bit of too much from Mr. Lambert already?

One Movie Down

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Since my cousin got two free tickets to Alice In Wonderland earlier, I got to watch the movie for free! Yay!  One movie down on my list!  We first had dinner at Pepe's with my sister and then she left us because she had work last night.

Bad Shoe Day

Monday, March 8, 2010

If there is such a thing called "Bad Hair Day" then there should also be a "Bad Shoe Day".  A bad shoe day was what I experienced yesterday.  Crap!

Thank gawd for manong Facilities and his bottle of gooey-sticky-shoe saving rugby!

Luckily, when the disaster striked, I was already at the front door of the office and then that was where I realized I had a Haiti sized dilemma.  The guards pointed me straight to the Facilities office to get my shoe fixed.  Thankfully, it got fixed but I was stuck all day smelling like rugby.

The shoe is still under critical condition but I do not have time to get it to the shoe hospital, Mr. Quickie.  Wait lang shoe ha, box rest ka lang anay. Hehehehe

S and M

Sunday, March 7, 2010

I am a masochist and I am my own sadist.  If ever there was a pool overflowing with pain, agony, misery and torture, I would probably be the first to dive in.  To wallow in emotional destruction is something I relish everyday.  I guess it is better to feel pain than nothing at all.

I used to drink a lot just to numb the tormenting anguish but that didnt do much.  After the alcohol gets flushed out, and the Valium wears out,   all I got was a crazy hang over and super thick moonshines!  That is why I stopped and dealt with the soreness that damaged me every second of every day.

Right now, my favorite form of flagellation would still be loving "toot". I got addicted to the pain and I wonder what I would do if it will disappear.

Back to the Past

(l-r: ken, butch, keith, bryan, jun and me)

The picture was taken June of 2008 with three of the best boy friends I have.  Butch, Bryan and Jun.  They probably do not know this but yes they are.

I brought this up because after a long time of not seeing each other, I saw Bryan yesterday applying at work.   I also found out the Butch already got in and will be starting training within the next week.  This is so cool!  The gang is around again!  But I am not sure if we will be drinking again after work since all of us have different accounts.

Don't get me wrong because I do not have any romantic feelings towards them.  To me, they are like the brothers I wished I had and got from a different mother.  For someone who have major trust issues, they are the only people other than my barkada who I will be caught dead drunk with and still be safe.

Weekends mean stolen and absolutely restricted (though I wonder why) rendezvous with the person I love most in the whole wide world!  Sorry for sounding like a little kid with pony tails but when you are in love, it doesn't matter.

Time to get ready for work.
